TULSA, Okla. (SMU) - SMU finished the first day of the Dale McNamara Invitational in sixth place out of fifteen teams. Jennifer Park is the highest-ranked Mustang, sitting in a tie for seventh at even par after two rounds at the par-72 Golf Club of Oklahoma.

The Mustangs finished round two six shots better than they did in round one, moving them from eighth to sixth on the leaderboard.

"I feel they had a solid day," Head Coach Jeanne Sutherland said. "We played well today. We hope to keep going up the leaderboard."

Park finished the day at even par after shooting a 144 (73-71). Park had five birdies in the second round but a double-bogey on the par-4 16th hampered her otherwise strong round.

"She had a really good day," Sutherland said. "She didn't have to do anything fancy; she just looked really solid."

Sutherland commends her young team as being very "coachable" and commented that the group is having a lot of fun playing and working together.

"We have a lot of fun out there and we just stay focused," Sutherland said. "We're not angry, we're just playing golf."

SMU continues play tomorrow morning for the final round at the Dale McNamara Invitational. Fans can follow the scoring live on GolfStat.com or via Facebook or Twitter.
