STILLWATER, Okla. (SMU) - Sophomore Alexandra Rossi shot a three-over 75 to lead the SMU women's golf team to a 24-over 312 in the third and final round of the 2014 NCAA Central Regional at Karsten Creek Golf Club on Saturday afternoon. SMU wrapped-up its 2013-14 campaign with a 17th-place finish at the Regional.

"I'm really proud of our players for a great season," head coach Jeanne Sutherland said. "Our ranking might not show it, but we improved the program a lot this year, playing one of the toughest schedules in the nation. We competed against some of the best teams in college golf all year with a young team. I thought that we played well today, and the girls finished strong, knowing that every stroke was going to count out there today (team played with four golfers)."

Rossi opened up her afternoon with a one-over front nine, recording eight pars and a bogey on the par-four fifth. The Mustang sophomore moved up 15 spots on the leaderboard on the final day, finishing her second Mustang campaign in 35th.

Senior Maria Elena Villamil finished her Mustang career with an eight-over 80, staying in the top half of the field with a 60th place finish.

"I enjoyed my last round of the season today, walking all 18 holes with my senior, who I will miss," Sutherland said.

Freshman Katie Page ended the final round of her rookie campaign with a six-over 78, matching her best round of the tournament. Page moved up four spots on the leaderboard in the final day to finish 90th at her first Regional. Junior Jennifer Park capped off her third collegiate campaign with a seven-over 79, and finished the Regional in 79th place.

Sophomore Jenny Haglund missed the final round of the 2013-14 season due to injury.

The Mustangs will return four of the five golfers that competed at this week's regional for the 2014-15 campaign.
