MESA, Ariz. (SMU) - Jenny Haglund leads the Clover Cup at six-under after two rounds. SMU is in second behind leader No.3 Oklahoma heading into the final round.
Haglund shot a five-under 67 in the second round to jump to the top of the leaderboard. Highlighting her round was an eagle on the 15th hole. Haglund nailed a perfect drive down the fairway, then used her three wood to knock the ball within four feet of the cup. The freshman then drained the eagle putt.
Melanie White also shot a 67 in the second round, moving her from 31st position to a tie for fifth after Saturday.
"They both had beautiful rounds of golf," Head Coach Jeanne Sutherland said. "It was fun to watch."
SMU struggled in the first round but rebounded in the second to move to second place.
"I felt we played as bad as we could in the first and really well in the second," Sutherland said. "We played with a lot of confidence in the second round."
Oklahoma had two strong rounds on Saturday and leads the Mustangs by 13 strokes. The Mustangs are five strokes ahead of Northwestern in third place.
