SMU In Fourth Through First Two Rounds Of Central District Invite

SARASOTA, Fla. (SMU) – Sophomore Jenny Haglund, junior Jennifer Park and freshman Katie Page all carded rounds under par to lead SMU to one-under through the first two rounds of the Central District Invitational at Lakewood Ranch Golf Club. The Mustangs shot an even-par 288 in the first round and a one-under 287 in the second round, both of which were played on Monday.
Haglund shot a four-under 68 in the first round to lead the Mustangs. The round is her fourth in the 60s this season, and the fifth of her career. The Karlstad, Sweden, native added a one-over 73 in the second round. Haglund, who now has 14 career rounds at par or better, co-leads the Mustangs, and is in eighth heading into the final round.
Park tallied her first two rounds at par or better this season, shooting an even-par 72 in the first round and a three-under 69 in the second round. The Carrolton, Texas, native’s second round is the seventh of her career at par or better, and the second of her career in the 60s. Park is also in eighth heading into Tuesday.
Page turned in her second-career round at par or better, shooting a career-best one-under 71 in the second round. Marking the third tournament appearance of her career, Page shot a three-over 75 in the first round, leaving her in 24th heading into the final 18.
Senior Maria Elena Villamil is at three-over after the first two rounds, shooting a one-over 73 in the first, and a two-over 74 in the second. Villamil heads into Tuesday’s action in 31st.
Sophomore Alexandra Rossi shot a three-over 75 in the first round and a two-over 74 in the second round to finish the opening day of the tournament at five-over and in 38th.
UCF leads the field at 15-under through the first two rounds, while the Knights’ Fanny Cnops is atop the individual leaderboard at 10-under.
