DOVER, Del. (SMU) – The No. 9 SMU equestrian team will travel to Dover, Del., on Saturday to take on No. 3 South Carolina, at 9 a.m. CT, and Delaware State at 2 p.m. CT as part of a doubleheader at Gambler’s Choice Equestrian Center.

SMU is nationally ranked after posting a 2-0 mark in the program’s opening weekend with wins over New Mexico State (10-9) and No. 10 University of Tennessee at Martin (13-4).

The Mustangs won all four events against UT-Martin last time out, including sweeping the western side for the first time in the program’s first year with the discipline.

Freshman Charlotte Jacobs has scored four points in four events in the Mustangs first two competitions, leading a 2013-14 freshman class that has accounted for 13 of SMU’s 23 points this season. Sophomores Mary Abbruzzese and Schaefer Raposa, junior Paulena Johnson, senior Julianna Fischer and freshman Sylvia de Toledo wrap-up the list of hunter seat riders that have scored points in each of the first two events. Freshman Hannah McCain is the only western rider that has scored in both competitions this year.

SMU will have six days off before taking on Texas A&M next Friday, Oct. 11, at 10 a.m. CT.
