WACO, Texas (SMU) - The SMU equestrian team received the program's seventh NCEA Championship berth on Monday, as the 10th-seeded Mustangs drew seventh-seeded New Mexico State in the first round, a matchup that will take place at the Extraco Events Center in Waco, Texas, on April 17.

The two programs split their two meetings this season, with SMU winning the opener 10-9 at BuckBranch Farm, before the Aggies took the February meeting 11-7 in Las Cruces, N.M.

Earlier this month, freshman Sylvia de Toledo was named to the NCEA All-America Second Team for equitation over fences, while her sophomore teammate Schaefer Raposa earned a spot on the honorable mention squad.

This year's championships are the first to see the top 12 teams with both Western and Hunt Seat combined invited to compete. The 2013-14 campaign is SMU's first season with a Western squad.

The winner of the Mustangs and Aggies will take on second-seeded and defending Western champion Oklahoma State in the quarterfinals.
