DALLAS (SMU) - The No. 10 Mustangs defeated LSU, 11-1, Friday at BuckBranch Farm. Greer Hindle and Colleen McKenzie both earned MVP honors for the team. With the win, SMU moves to 6-2 on the season.

To start the competition, SMU edged LSU with a 5-1 win in equitation over fences, taking the raw score 478-458. McKenzie earned MVP honors with her 84-77 match against Gabrielle LeBoeuf. Freshman Schaefer Raposa added an impressive victory against Katie Borne with a score of 83-72. Alex Butterworth, another freshman, defeated Maggie Case 80-78. Sophomores Emma Roberts and Courtney Line each added a point to the Mustangs’ score with a 79-77 win over Andrea Eller and a 77-74 win over Josie Cormier respectively.

The Mustangs went undefeated while riding on the flat going 6-0 with a raw score of 544-449. Hindle took MVP honors with decisive 96-73 win over Maggie Case. Freshman Mary Abruzzese won her matchup against Andrea Eller 98-96. Erin Nelson dominated her ride 97-75 over Kelsey Gore, while Lucy Blundon had an 87-78 victory over Gabrielle LeBoeuf. Junior Julianna Fischer earned the Mustangs a point by defeating Jessi Farestvedt 71-51. Paulena Johnson closed the meet for the Mustangs with a 95-86 win over Faith Myers.

SMU competes against No. 6 Baylor at 10 a.m. on Feb. 16 at BuckBranch Farm.
