WELLINGTON, Fla. (SMU) - SMU senior and Wellington, Fla., native Julianna Fischer will return to her hometown to compete in the Winter Equestrian Festival Collegiate Equitation Challenge on February 7 at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center. Fischer is one of 16 riders across the country that was chosen to participate.

"Julie has been one of our most consistent and determined riders during her four years on the Hilltop," head coach Natalie Burton said. "I know she will not only represent SMU well at this prestigious event, but she will also go out there and compete with confidence against some of the best riders in the country."

Fischer is 5-3 over fences this year, including an MOP on October 5 at South Carolina.

No. 10 SMU will resume its 2013-14 season when it travels New Mexico State for its spring opener on February 15 for an 11 a.m. CT start.
