Vote Adam Still - Lowe's Senior CLASS Award Finalist
DALLAS (SMU) - The No. 9 SMU equestrian team fell, 6-5, to No. 4 South Carolina Friday afternoon at BuckBranch Farm. The final raw score was South Carolina 883, SMU 866. With the loss, the Mustangs are now 5-2 on the season.
"Today was tough because you always want to win," head coach Haley Schoolfield said. "But we had a lot of very nice rides against a great South Carolina team. We know what we need to correct as we prepare for West Texas A&M next Sunday."
SMU won equitation over fences, 3-2. Freshman Emma Roberts picked up a 79-77 win and now holds a 6-0 mark on the year. All-American senior Jordyn Pettersen slipped past her opponent with an 82-81 victory. Sophomore Julianna Fischer earned the third point for the Mustangs with her 81-78 win.
The Gamecocks had a 4-2 advantage on the flat. Freshman Greer Hindle collected a point with her 67-61 victory. Fellow freshman Courtney Line accounted for the Mustangs' other tally with her 71-69 win.
