COLLEGE STATION, Texas (SMU) - The No. 10 SMU equestrian team was defeated, 9-3, by No. 4 Texas A&M Friday morning at the Brazos Valley Expo Center. With the loss, the Mustangs move to 3-2 on the season.

"We are incredibly proud of the team," head coach Haley Schoolfield said. "Regardless of the outcome, everyone rode like a winner today. We are going to take those great rides and build on them as we prepare for Fresno State on our home turf."

Competition opened with a 4-2 Aggie win in equitation over fences. Freshman Alex Butterworth continued her stellar rookie campaign with a dominant 89-75 decision over Marlena Parker. Sophomore Courtney Line also turned in a strong performance with an 83-72 victory over Kat Barkema.

Texas A&M won the flat, 5-1. Freshman Schaefer Raposa earned the point for the Mustangs, defeating Kelsi Shevlin, 75-72.

SMU hosts Fresno State at 10 a.m. on Nov. 8 at BuckBranch Farm.
