DOVER, Del. (SMU) - The SMU equestrian team defeated New Mexico State, 6-4, Friday afternoon at Gambler's Choice Equestrian Center. The final raw score was SMU 787, NMSU 751. With the win, the Mustangs are now 3-1 on the season.
"Today was a great day for us, and it was important to get a win in neutral territory," head coach Haley Schoolfield said. "Our team showed great resiliency rebounding from the loss to Oklahoma State a few weeks ago. We trained hard for this big weekend, and I think it definitely showed today. It was a great win, but now we are looking forward to competing against Delaware State tomorrow at 8 a.m."
SMU had another strong showing on the flat, winning 4-1. Freshman Greer Hindle recorded a meet-high 88 points in her win. Fellow newcomer Courtney Line slipped past her opponent 83-81. Also picking up points for the Mustangs were sophomores Renick Townsend, who recorded an 80, and Julianna Fischer, who scored an 82.
