KATY, Texas (SMU) – Freshman Sylvia de Toledo finished third in the 2014 Pin Oak Charity Collegiate Invitational on Sunday at Tellepsen Arena of the Great Southwest Equestrian Center.
“Sylvia looked really great out there today,” head coach Natalie Burton said. “She was very consistent in both of her rides. She’s prepped and ready for nationals next month.”
The Mustang freshman opened her afternoon with an 80-71 victory over Alabama’s Elizabeth Allen, before dropping an 82-80 decision to Baylor’s Paige Parker in the semifinals. De Toledo is now 11-4 on the season over fences (5 MOP rides this season). The New York, N.Y., native has tallied an 80 or higher in 13 of her 15 fences rides this season.
Parker would go on to win the invitational with an 82-78 decision over Delaware State’s Carlin Savage.
As a team, the 10th-ranked Mustangs will await the draw for the 2014 NCEA Championships in Waco, Texas (April 17-19).
