BROOKINGS, S.D. (SMU) - The No. 9 Mustangs defeated Sacred Heart, 7-1, Saturday. Greer Hindle and Courtney Line both earned MVP honors for the team. With the win, SMU moves to 7-3 on the season.

The Mustangs began the competition by shutting out Sacred Heart 4-0 in equitation over fences, taking the raw score 297-152. Sophomore Line earned MVP honors with her 80-72 victory over Katie Gray. Freshman Schaefer Raposa had an impressive ride, defeating Devan Beaulieu 78-40. Rookie Alex Butterworth shut out her opponent, 70-0, when Jocelyn Alfieri was disqualified for going off course. Sophomore Emma Roberts added a point for SMU with her 69-40 ride over Allison Brosky.

SMU remained strong riding on the flat and defeated Sacred Heart 3-1 with a raw score of 314-297. Greer Hindle was named MVP for the third time this season with her victory over Brosky 84-71. Freshman Mary Abruzzese won her matchup against Taylor DiBella 82-68. Paulena Johnson closed the meet for the Mustangs with an 82-77 win over Beaulieu.

SMU competes against No. 10 South Dakota State at 10 a.m. on Feb. 24 in Brookings, S.D.
