DALLAS (SMU) --- The SMU equestrian team scored a 7-2 victory over Sacred Heart at the Park Lane Equestrian Center on Sunday. Erica Buie earned the MVP award over fences and Claire Wenholz was named MVP on the flat. SMU swept the season series with Sacred Heart after winning 10-0 on Oct. 10.

The Mustangs are now 3-6 on the season and 2-0 at home. SMU won equitation on the flat 3-1 with Wenholz earning a 75-58 victory in her MVP ride. Mallory Olson and Melissa Kowalchik also scored wins on the flat while Amanda Vining rode to a draw.

Head coach Ashley Schaeffer 's squad then dominated the fences portion with a 4-1 margin. Buie started the event with a 71-55 triumph that eventually earned her MVP status. The Mustangs won the next three rides by Emily Gardner, Kristen Collins, and Olson to finish with a 312-244 total points advantage on fences.

The Mustangs are also at home for their next four matches beginning with TCU on Feb. 21 at 10 a.m.
