DALLAS (SMU) --- SMU head coach Rhonda Rompola announced today that DeAmber Wilhite, Kristin Askew and Destynee McCray have all signed letter of intents to play basketball on the Hilltop for the 2011-12 season. The Mustangs continue to add local prospects as all three signees hail from the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Wilhite, a 5-8 guard from Denton High School, averaged 20 points, eight rebounds, five steals and five assists per game as a junior. Rated as the No. 89 overall prospect and No. 23 guard for the 2011 class by ESPN's Hoopgurlz, Wilhite is known for her smart and physical play. Last season, she earned TABC Class 4A All-State, All-Area, TABC All-Region honors as well as being named District 5-4A's Co-MVP.

Askew, a 5-6 guard from Mansfield Timberview High School, was a key contributor for a Wolf team that won the 4A State Championship. Ranked by ESPN's Hoopgurlz as the No. 26 point guard prospect, Askew received a 92 Scout's Grade by the network.

The 6-0 forward from Arlington Martin High School, McCray averaged 13 points and eight boards per game as a junior. Last season she was named to first team 5A All District and to the Chairman of the Boards Team. McCray was also honored for her success in the classroom by earning Academic All-District honors.

The Mustangs tip-off their season with a home game against Utah tonight at 5:30 p.m. SMU will play 14 home games at Moody Coliseum this season, where the Mustangs have won 12 or more games each year since the 2004-05 season.
