Assistant Coach Deneen Parker Named To Southland Conference 1990's All-Decade Team

FRISCO, Texas (SMU) - SMU assistant coach Deneen Parker was named to the Southland Conference 1990's All-Decade Team, league officials announced. Parker, who is in her 18th season on head coach Rhonda Rompola's staff at SMU, was one of 20 players selected to the team.
A 5-9 guard at Stephen F. Austin from 1989-90 to 1993-94, Parker was a two-time Southland Conference Player of the Year and a two-time Kodak All-American. She led the Ladyjacks to four conference championships and four NCAA Tournament appearances, advancing to the Sweet 16 all four years. She was named to the Stephen F. Austin Hall of Fame in 2010.
During her time at SMU, the Mustangs have gone 325-219, including a 21-7 record this season. Parker has helped coach the Mustangs to two conference tournament championships and three regular season conference championships after clinching at least a share of the Conference USA regular season championship with a 12-3 league record this season. SMU has made five NCAA Tournament appearances under her leadership and competed in the WNIT three times.
The Mustangs conclude the regular season at Rice Thursday at 7 p.m. After a first round bye, SMU will begin competition at the C-USA Championship on Thursday, March 14 in Tulsa, Okla.
