Behind double-doubles from both Janielle Dodds and Kendall Shead, the SMU women's basketball team won its eighth consecutive game with a 68-59 win over Fresno State on the Bulldogs' home court in Fresno, Calif. The win moves the Ponies' record to 12-1 on the year while remaining perfect in Western Athletic Conference play at 3-0. The win also marks the first SMU win on Fresno State's home court since 2000.

SMU took its first lead of the night when Dodds' lay-up gave the Ponies a 26-25 advantage. The Mustangs closed the first half with a slim 33-32 lead. In the second stanza, SMU rolled early opening up a 16 point lead with 8:48 to play. Fresno State closed the gap to four points with 2:51 left, but the Mustangs sprinted home on a 9-2 run to secure the WAC road win.

Dodds and Shead each recorded double-doubles on the night. Dodds scored 22 points and pulled down 11 rebounds, while Shead recorded 15 points and 10 assists. Shead's 10 assists were the most dish-outs in a game since Shead had 10 assists on Nov. 28, 2003 against UTA. Senior Shonte Roberts came off the bench to pour in 13 points on 6-of-10 shooting.

The Mustangs travel to Reno, Nev. Saturday to face Nevada. Saturday's tip is slated for 9:00 PM central time.
