HOUSTON (SMU) - Destynee Hives-McCray posted her seventh double-double of the season with 16 points and 13 rebounds, but it wasn't enough as Jessica Kuster scored 14 points in the second half to lead Rice to a 58-46 win over SMU in Tudor Fieldhouse Thursday night.

The Mustangs (21-8, 12-4 Conference USA) were held to just 22 points in the second half after leading 24-20 at halftime. SMU held Kuster to just one point in the first half, but the only player in C-USA went 4-for-5 in the second half to finish with 15 points and 18 rebounds.

Alisha Filmore hit two of her first three 3-pointers, but finished 3-of-7 from behind the arc as SMU made only four overall. The senior scored 13 points, reaching double digits for the 22nd time this season. Rice (14-15, 6-10 C-USA) shot 40 percent for the game, 20-of-50, and the Owls were 12-of-23 in the second half, 52.2 percent.
