DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU Mustangs will look to continue their recent winning ways as they host 34th-ranked Columbia on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Samuell Grand Tennis Center.
SMU has won four of its last six matches, with its most recent decision being a 5-2 defeat over Radford last Tuesday at Samuell Grand. Arturs Kazijevs and Nate Lammons have played well all spring, with both boasting 5-4 singles records. Kazijevs has played every match from the No. 1 spot. Lammons has won five matches in a row and is 4-0 on the season in the No. 6 spot.
Kazijevs and doubles partner Mischa Nowicki have also had a successful spring, parlaying their efforts into a 4-3 record. The duo defeated Radford's Thomas Dehaen and Nicholas Sayer, 8-3 last Tuesday. Dehaen and Sayer had been ranked as high as 44th in the nation.
Columbia's most recent action came this past weekend at the Blue-Gray Invitational in Montgomery, Ala. The Lions lost a tough match to No. 47 Texas Tech in the opening round,but bounced back with a 4-0 sweep over William & Mary and a come-from-behind win on the final day against No. 38 Nebraska.
