DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU Mustangs will begin its dual match slate with visit to No. 20 Texas on Saturday afternoon. The match is the first of eight against ranked opponents this season, including four in the top 25.

"It's an exciting national schedule that I'm proud that we're playing," Head Coach Carl Neufeld said. "It's one of the toughest schedules we've had."

To go along with the four top 25 teams (No. 20 Texas, No. 12 Texas A&M, No. 11 Mississippi and No. 8 Baylor), SMU will play eight top 25 singles players and six top 25 doubles pairs. SMU will face four teams from the Big 12 (Texas, Baylor, TCU and Oklahoma State), as well as a total of nine teams from the state of Texas.

Junior Arturs Kazijevs will pace SMU in singles play after going 8-4 in the fall. The Riga, Latvia, native is ranked 73rd nationally to begin the spring. Mischa Nowicki finished the fall strong, advancing to the semifinals in singles at the Jack Kramer Club Invite. The Mustangs will also look to capitalize on its doubles talent, with Kazijevs and Nowicki coming off a No. 43 fall ranking and second team all-conference honors last season. Senior Alex Sanders and sophomore Nate Lammons made their doubles debut this fall and immediately impressed, going 10-3 and winning the doubles title at the Jack Kramer Club Invite. The duo won their first six matches together, including advancing to the first round of consolation singles at the ITA All-American Championships.

The Mustangs went 11-10 in the 2013 spring season, including a 7-4 mark at home. SMU finished the season winning three of its last four, falling in the second round of the Conference USA tournament to No. 23 Tulsa.
