DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU men’s tennis team notched its ninth win of the season yesterday, edging out UTA, 4-3, at Northwood Country Club. Gaston Cuadranti earned his 10th singles win of the season, joining Arturs Kazijevs with double-digit win totals.

SMU (9-9) started off the day by taking two of three in doubles play to take the first point of the afternoon.  Kazijevs and Tobias Flood earned their ninth victory at No. 2 doubles, 8-4, over Yauheni Yakauleu and David Subirats. Joseph Hattrup and Robert Sajovich also dispatched Nicolas Moreno and Stefan Williams, 8-1.

SMU and UTA (6-11) split singles play, with Cuadranti, Kazijevs and Mischa Nowicki each picking up straight-set victories.  Cuadranti topped Mindaugas Celedinas, 6-4, 6-2, in the No. 1 flight. Kazijevs earned his team-leading 11th win of the season at No. 3, ousting Yakauleu, 6-4, 6-2, while Nowicki defeated Moreno, 6-1, 6-2 in the fourth flight. 

The Mustangs will return to action on April 7 as they host Notre Dame at noon at Northwood Country Club.
