Mustangs Take 6-1 Win At Florida Gulf Coast

FORT MYERS, Fla. (SMU) - The SMU Mustangs got their first win of the spring season in dominating fashion against Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday evening.

No. 83 Arturs Kazijevs, Pablo Perez-Esnaola, Mischa Nowicki, Nate Lammons and Eduardo Razzeto all took singles victories. Kazijevs topped FGCU's Jordi Vives 7-6 (7-5); 6-4. Vives is in his first season at FGCU after transferring from USC, where he was a part of the 2011-12 national championship team.

"It was great for 5 new players to get their first win as a Mustang," head coach Carl Neufeld said. " It was a fantastic college tennis atmosphere with over 500 spectators in attendance."

The Mustangs also took two of three doubles matches, including a convincing 8-1 win by Kazijevs and Nowicki over FGCU duo Tianyu Bao and Dylan Gunning.
