"Our younger guys are really coming through for us," SMU Head Coach Carl Neufeld said. "It was great to win the doubles point. That was a good team, and we played a tough match. We had to play really well to beat them. We work on a lot of little things individually to get better and there's a lot of things we're improving on weekly. Today was an example of a match where we were much better today than a week ago."
Sanders collected SMU's fifth point with a win at No. 2 singles, defeating Yannick Junger 6-5; 3-6; 6-5 (4).
With his win, Slobodkins improved to 4-1 overall and 2-0 at the fifth position. Olaya is now 2-0 at No. 6 singles, improving his overall record to 6-6, including the fall season.
The Mustangs will travel to College Station, Texas, for a visit with ninth-ranked Texas A&M on Sunday at noon.
