Oklahoma City (SMU) - The SMU men’s swimming team continued to dominate the relay events on day three of the Kerr McGee Elite Meet. The Mustangs won the 400 medley relay in 3:16.71, more than 10 seconds ahead of the second place finisher, en route to a new meet record. In individual action, sophomore Ian Clark touched the wall first in the 200 IM with a winning time of 1:49.25, edging out teammate Justin Smith (1:51.80).
A host of SMU swimmers also had good showings on day two to collect points for the Mustangs. Senior Camilo Becerra finished second in both the ‘A’ finals of the 50 free (19.98) and 100 back (49.97), while Per Nylin came in third in the 50 free (20.05) and Clark took third in the 100 back (50.04). Nylin also finished first in the ‘B’ final of the 100 back, good for ninth place overall.
In other championship finals, Ferdi Postma (4:29.37) and Smith (4:34.54) finished fourth and seventh respectively in the 500 free. In the 200 breast freshman Patrick Rasckle finished in fourth place (2:08.65), while Travis Wolther was not far behind in sixth (2:09.19).
