Oklahoma City (SMU) - The SMU men’s swimming team won both relay events on the first day of the 13th Annual Kerr-McGee Elite Meet, taking first in both the 800 free and 200 medley relays. The Mustang ‘A’ team also broke the previous meet records set in 2003 by SMU in the events, finishing in 6:43.30 in the 800 and 1:32.00 in the 200. The ‘B' relay team finished third in both relays, finishing the 800 in 6:57.10 and the 200 in 1:35.24.
Senior co-captain Ferdi Postma finished sixth in the 1000 free with a time of 9:20.57 and gained another 13 points for the Mustangs. Ric Hampson finished in 12th at 9:38.70, while Jessen Wabeke came in 18th (9:44.44) and William Balderamos finished in 27th (10:11.20). SMU totaled 162 points on day one.
