SMU Men's Swimming & Diving Defeats TCU for First Dual Win of the Year

DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU men?s swimming & diving team captured their first dual win of the season on Thursday, as they defeated TCU 142-97 in action at Perkins Natatorium. The Mustangs had an impressive showing against the Horned Frogs, winning 10 of 13 events, en route to handing TCU its first loss of the year.

Sophomore Ian Clark led the way for SMU winning three events on the evening. He touched the wall first in the 200 IM (1:55.26), 200 back (1:49.09) and the 200 breast (2:07.59) to help the Mustangs prevail. Camilo Becerra and Ferdi Postma also were successful on Thursday, as each captured two victories. Becerra won the 50 (20.52) and 100 free (45.61), while Postma took home the 200 free (1:42.36) and the 500 free (4:41.19).

Other Mustang winners included Justin Smith in the 1000 free (9:45.09), Ric Hampson in the 200 fly (1:52.71) and senior co-captain Beau Sydes in the three-meter diving competition.

SMU will look to keep this momentum going when they travel to College Station, Texas, Nov. 19-21, to participate in the Aggie Invite against some of the top swimming programs in the nation.
