SMU Trio Finishes Up At USA Diving National Championships

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – SMU divers Devin Burnett, Bryce Klein and Parker Meinecke competed in the USA Diving National Championships this past week in Knoxville, Tenn.

Klein, a sophomore, competed in the one-meter, three-meter and three-meter synchronized dives.  In the one-meter, Klein won the bronze with a score of 415.95.  The Southlake, Texas, native then finished sixth in the three-meter competition with a score of 429.20.  In the three-meter synchronized event, Klein partnered with Stanford’s Bradley Christensen.  The duo won the silver medal with a score of 405.78. 

With three top-10 finishes, Klein was the men’s high point award winner. 

Burnett, a senior, competed in the one-meter and three-meter events.  In the one-meter, Burnett finished fifth with a score of 376.10, giving SMU two divers in the top five of that event.  In the three-meter, Burnett finished 17th with a score of 367.50. 

Meinecke, a junior, competed in the championships for the first time and finished 19th in the platform preliminaries, narrowly missing the cut for the semifinals.
