Men's Swimming Impressive at American SC Championships

DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU men?s swimming team had an impressive showing at the American Short Course Championships in Austin, Texas, this past weekend Mar. 3-5. The Mustangs represented SMU well with nine top-five finishes in event finals, including wins in both the 200 free (1:19.14) and 400 medley (3:13.76) relays. The winning times were both season bests for the squad.

In individual events, Ric Hampson (1:47.04) and Ferdi Postma (1:48.02) finished second and fourth in the 200 fly, while Justin Smith (1:49.38) took sixth. Ian Clark grabbed the fifth spot in the 100 back, touching the wall in 49.20 and J.D. White finished sixth in the 100 free in 45.11.

The men?s swimming and diving team returns to action March 25-57, when members who have qualified will travel to Minneapolis, Minnesota, to participate in the NCAA Championships.
