DALLAS (SMU) - SMU men's swimming coach Eddie Sinnott has been given SMU's Outstanding Leadership Award, the Department of Human Resources announced today. The award is part of the university's Presidential Staff Recognition Awards that recognize "the contribution and excellence of staff employees to SMU."

Sinnott is in his 24th year as head coach of the SMU men's swimming team, having led the Mustangs to 11 NCAA top-15 finishes and 14 top-25 finishes. He guided the Mustangs to five consecutive NIC Championships and 10 conference championships, and has kept SMU near the top of the collegiate swimming world throughout his tenure.

SMU`s Outstanding Leadership Award recognizes an employee who "demonstrates exceptional leadership ability within his or her unit or across the University."

The recognition ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at the McFarlin Auditorium.
