Divers Finish Competition at Georgia Diving Invite

Athens, Georgia (SMU) - The SMU diving team finished competition in the 2005 Georgia Diving Invitational on Wednesday, as Beau Sydes scored 406.20 points in the platform competition, good for an eighth place finish. During the three-day event Sydes also placed eighth in the three-meter (494.65) and 10th in the one-meter (266.95).

Also competing on the men?s side for SMU was David Bender, who had scores of 148.45 in the one-meter prelims and 303.65 in the three-meter finals.

On the women?s side, Liz Pike, Christina Hussong, and Kristin Schild all saw action for SMU. Pike finished 10th in the one-meter (244.00) and 11th in the three meter (433.70) to lead the Mustangs.

The SMU diving team returns to action when Sydes will represent the Mustangs at the 23rd Annual Dallas Morning News Swimming and Diving Classic Jan. 14-15 at Perkins Natatorium.
