SMU In Fifth Place Following Day Two Of Texas A&M Invite

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (SMU) - Senior Matt Roney finished third (1:37.92) in the 200-yard freestyle as the SMU men's swimming and diving team competed on day two of the Texas A&M Invitational. The Mustangs currently stand in fifth place as a team.
In addition to Roney, seniors Matthew Napier-Jameson and Julian Fletcher placed eighth (57.92) and 10th (57.24), respectively in the 100-yard breaststroke. In the 100-yard backstroke, junior Matas Andriekus finished with a time of 49.36 to place seventh.
In relays for the Ponies, seniors Braeden Newton, Tyler Rauth, Ramom Melo and Fletcher placed sixth in the 200-yard medley with a time of 1:31.34. In the 800-freestyle relay, the team of freshmen Tucker Wells, Matthew Colket, Roney and Andriekus posted a time of 6:49.69 to place eighth.
Junior Devin Burnett led the Mustang divers as he finished sixth in the 3-meter dive with a score of 380.5. In addition, freshman Bryce Klein placed ninth (3:22.8) in the second event of his collegiate career.
SMU returns to action tomorrow for day three of the Texas A&M Invite in College Station, Texas. Preliminaries begin at 10 AM CT and finials for those events will start at 6 PM CT.
