"Melo winning the 50-yard freestyle was huge; he swam really well," head coach Eddie Sinnott said. "I feel great with where we are at after having such great improvement over the past two weeks. It was a very positive night."

In the 200-yard breaststroke, senior Nicolai Hansen finished first with a time of 2:01.79. In addition, Hansen placed second (1:49.48) in the 200-yard individual medley, while classmate Tyler Rauth finished runner-up in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:51.22.

Sophomore Eastman Holloway paced the Mustangs in the 1000-yard freestyle (9:30.53) and the 500-yard (4:36.74) freestyle with finishes of third and fourth place, respectively.

Freshman Ziga Cerkovnik finished third in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 45.10. In 200-yard backstroke, junior Matas Andriekus placed third clocking a time of 1:49.10.

Junior Devin Burnett led the Mustang divers as he placed first in the 1-meter dive (359.99) and second 3-meter dive (384.00).

"We swam with 98 percent personal-best times tonight," Sinnott continued. "That is what we need to do as the conference meet is less than a month away."

SMU returns to action on Feb. 19 when it travels to Louisville, Ky. for the inaugural American Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Louisville. The Mustangs will look to win the inaugural AAC championship as well as the programs 17th conference title in the last18 years.
