ATHENS, Georgia (SMU) - Junior diver Devin Burnett and freshman diver Bryce Klein earned first and fourth place honors in the 3-meter dive n day one of the Georgia Diving Invite in Athens, Ga. The Invitational is a unique event in which the top six divers from each of the springboard events compete in a round-by-round, knock-out event featuring one dive per round, in which the lowest score will be eliminated until one diver remains.

"Devin had a successful strategy of mixing his best and worst divers in the correct order to outlast the rest of the competition," head diving coach Jim Stillson said. "He competed extremely well each round."

In addition, junior Hayden Hodges and sophomore Parker Meinecke placed 13th (309.40) and 23rd (245.25), respectively in the preliminary round of the 3-meter dive.

Hodges score was just five hundredths of a point short of making the finals.

"I am very pleased with how both Hayden and Parker dove today," Stillson said. "Today was a good measure for where we are right now, and we are learning what we need to continue to improve upon."

These four divers are back in action on Saturday  to compete in the 1-meter dive on day two of the Georgia Diving Invite.
