SMU vs. SOUTH CAROLINA
SMU holds a 7-6-2 all-time record against South Carolina. The teams squared off on Oct. 12 as the Mustangs edged the Gamecocks 3-2 in double-overtime. Diogo de Almeida scored in the 17th minute and Arthur Ivo added goals in the 89th and 102nd minutes en route to the SMU win. This is also a rematch of last year's C-USA semifinal which SMU lost 2-1.

MUSTANGS EARN CONFERENCE HONORS
Diogo de Almeida is the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year and was named First Team All-Conference USA along with senior Arthur Ivo. Sophomore Juan Castillo and junior T.J. Nelson were selected Second Team All-Conference. Freshman Aaron Simmons was named to the All-Freshman team. de Almeida and Adam Still made the Academic All-Conference USA Team.
Ivo scored his first career hat trick as SMU defeated Marshall, 4-3, Nov. 9 in the C-USA quarterfinals. The game was a back-and-forth affair with three lead changes. Ivo got the Mustangs on the board in the 17th minute on an assist from redshirt freshman Tyler Engel. Marshall responded with a goal in the 18th minute and then took the lead on a tally in the 56th minute. Engel scored a goal of his own in the 62nd on a feed from sophomore Zach Barnes. Ivo put the Mustangs back up 3-2 when he converted a penalty kick in the 69th minute. He completed his hat trick with the go-ahead goal in the 76th minute on assists from Barnes and sophomore Robbie Derschang. Marshall added a goal in the 79th minute, but the Mustangs were able to hold off the Herd for the win.
SMU closed out the regular season by defeating Memphis, 2-1, on Senior Night at Westcott Field on Nov. 4. Memphis opened the scoring early with a goal 1:43 into the game. Castillo scored the equalizer at the 37 minute mark. Pressuring forward, Castillo stripped a defender of the ball, deked around the Memphis goalie and shot the ball into the open net to knot the score at one. Ivo tallied the eventual game-winner exactly one minute later. Junior Ben Hill sent a through ball to Ivo up the right side who went around the Tiger keeper and fired a shot in from a sharp angle.
The winner of this semifinal match up will face the winner of the No. 17 UAB/UCF semifinal in the Conference USA Championship on Sunday at 1 p.m.
