SMU vs. MARSHALL
SMU holds a 4-2-1 all-time record against Marshall. The teams squared off on Oct. 8, playing to a 1-1 double-overtime draw. Arthur Ivo scored the Mustangs' goal directly on a free kick from 36 yards out in the seventh minute.

SMU closed out the regular season by defeating Memphis, 2-1, on Senior Night at Westcott Field on Friday. Memphis opened the scoring early with a goal 1:43 into the game.
Sophomore Juan Castillo scored the equalizer at the 37 minute mark. Pressuring forward, Castillo stripped a defender of the ball, deked around the Memphis goalie and shot the ball into the open net to knot the score at one. The goal was his fifth of the season.
Ivo tallied the eventual game-winner exactly one minute later. Junior Ben Hill sent a through ball to Ivo up the right side who went around the Tiger keeper and fired a shot in from a sharp angle. The goal was Ivo's team-leading sixth of the year and his third game-clincher.
MUSTANGS DOWNED BY WILDCATS
SMU lost to Kentucky, 2-0, on Oct. 30 in Lexington. The Wildcats jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals at 1:25 and 8:00. Redshirt junior goalkeeper Juan Robles saw his first action as a Mustang, coming in to play the second half for SMU.
MUSTANGS FALL TO BLAZERS
SMU was defeated by UAB, 1-0, Oct. 26 at Westcott Field. The Blazers recorded the game's only tally in the 39th minute following a corner kick.
SMU had several scoring chances, many missing by just inches. Sophomore Robbie Derschang hit a header off the crossbar following an SMU free kick in the 13th minute. In the 59th minute, senior Diogo de Almeida ran down the left side and fired a shot off the left post. Ivo also had a quality chance when he set up for a free kick from 19 yards out in the 80th minute, but he too hit the crossbar.
Mustang goalkeeper Jaime Ibarra had another solid performance in goal, making six saves on the night. de Almeida also saved a UAB goal with his team save on the line in the 84th minute.
The winner of this quarterfinal match up will face No. 1 seed South Carolina in the semifinals on Nov. 11 at 5 p.m. The Gamecocks went 6-1-1 in league play. SMU was the only team to defeat South Carolina, winning 3-2 in double-overtime on Oct. 12.
