THE BEAR NECESSITIES
SMU shut out Missouri State, 1-0, Friday night at Westcott Field. de Almeida scored the game's lone goal in the 60th minute. Following a Missouri State foul, senior Ian Kalis stepped in to take a free kick from 28 yards out. de Almeida was just outside of the six-yard box and deflected Kalis' shot past the Missouri State goalkeeper and in. The tally was de Almeida's fourth of the season.
SMU goalkeeper Jaime Ibarra turned in another strong performance in net as he earned his third clean sheet of the season. Ibarra made four stops on the night and intercepted several crosses in the box for the Mustangs.
