SMU vs. MISSOURI STATE
SMU holds a 12-3 all-time record against Missouri State. The Mustangs opened 2010 with a, 3-2, come-from-behind double-overtime win over the Bears. Zach Barnes scored on a 30-yard header, and Juan Castillo tied the game in the 88th minute. T.J. Nelson netted the game-winner in the 103rd minute.

SMU defeated FIU, 2-1, in overtime on Sunday night at Westcott Field. FIU got on the board first with a goal in the 30th minute.

Castillo tied the game at one with his goal in the 59th minute. Redshirt freshman Damian Rosales ran down the right side of the field and sent a cross into the box to Castillo who headed it home. The tally was Castillo's fourth of the season.

Senior Diogo de Almeida won the game for SMU with his goal in the 94th minute. After a flurry of chances in front of the net, de Almeida collected an Arthur Ivo rebound and buried the ball from eight yards out. The goal was de Almeida's third of the season and second in as many games.

BIG GAME HUNTING
SMU knocked off South Carolina, 3-2, in double overtime on Oct. 12. de Almeida put the Mustangs up 1-0 in 17th minute after collecting a rebound from in front of the net and burying the ball from eight yards out.

South Carolina answered with a goal in the 24th minute and then went up 2-1 late with a tally in the 84th minute.

With time winding down, senior Payton Hickey was fouled in the box awarding the Mustangs a penalty kick in the 89th minute. Ivo stepped in and fired the ball into the lower left corner to knot the score at two.

After a scoreless overtime period, SMU was again pressuring and forced a South Carolina handball, giving SMU a free kick from 20 yards out. Ivo took the kick for SMU and sent the double-OT game-winning goal into the right upper 90 in the 102nd minute. The goals were Ivo's team-leading fourth and fifth of the season.

NEXT GAME
SMU hosts C-USA rival UAB on Oct. 26 at Westcott Field at 7 p.m. The Mustangs defeated the Blazers, 3-2, on Sept. 25, 2010, in the SMU's conference opener. Castillo, Ivo and Josue Soto all scored for SMU. UAB holds an 8-3-2 record on the year.
