DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU men's soccer team saw four of its student-athletes honored as preseason selections by CollegeSportsMadness.com, the website officials announced on Tuesday.

Junior Damian Rosales and sophomore Jacob Speed were first team selections, while junior Andrew Morales and senior Jaime Ibarra were named to the second team.

Rosales, who was also a unanimous preseason selection by the American Athletic Conference, was selected to the All-Conference USA Second Team after his three assist campaign in 2012. The midfielder played in 18 matches for the Mustangs a season ago. His first team counterpart, Speed, is in his first year with SMU after transferring to the program from fellow C-USA member Kentucky. The defender saw action in 21 matches in his initial season with the Wildcats. He was also honored by the C-USA as an all-freshman team selection.

Morales, a midfielder for the Mustangs, finished 2012 as an all-conference third team selection. He was also second in points for SMU (4g, 4a), with appearances in 19 matches.

Ibarra, who played every minute in the net for the Mustangs in 2012, was honored as the C-USA co-Player of the Year as well as the league's Defensive Player of the Year. He finished 10th in the NCAA Division I rankings in total saves (99), 38th in save percentage (.805) and 27th in saves per game (4.95).

SMU hosts Houston Baptist for its final preseason match on Saturday at 5 p.m. at Westcott Field. The seventh-annual Jordan Mann Alumni Match will follow immediately after.

The Mustangs' regular season begins on Aug. 30 against preseason No. 1 Indiana at the IU Credit Union Classic. Kick-off is slated for 6:30 p.m. CT.
