PROVIDENCE, R.I. (SMU/American) – The SMU men’s soccer team was picked fourth in the 2013 American Athletic Conference Preseason Poll.

The Mustangs sit behind No. 5 UConn, No. 10 Louisville and USF, who is receiving votes in the preseason NSCAA rankings.

Junior midfielder Damian Rosales was picked as a unanimous preseason all-conference selection after a successful 2012 campaign. The Dallas, Texas, native played in 18 matches last season and finished with three assists.

The Mustangs finished the 2012 season 10-5-5 overall and 6-2 in Conference USA action. They grabbed the No. 1 seed for the C-USA tournament and fell in the conference championship to Tulsa. SMU’s NCAA tournament run was halted in the first round after the Mustangs fell in penalty kicks to Tulsa.
