DALLAS - After a two-hour rain relay, the SMU men's soccer team played Houston Baptist to a 1-1 draw at Ford Stadium Saturday night in the final exhibition game of the season.
Freshman Leobardo Vazquez put the Mustangs on the board first with a goal just before halftime. After an SMU corner kick that the Huskies were unable to clear, Vazquez found the ball and fired it into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.
Houston Baptist scored the equalizer in the second half on a goal by Kristopher Tyrpak. Tyrpak received a pass on the left side, one-touched the ball and floated it over the keeper to knot the score.
SMU opens the regular season against Campbell on Friday at Westcott Field at 7:30 p.m.
Season tickets are on sale now for $27. Individual game tickets are $6 for adults, and $3 for children 12 and under. Special group ticket prices are available. Tickets can be purchased online at SMUMustangs.com or by calling 214-SMU-GAME.
