Mustangs Tie UMKC 1-1 In Exhibition

DALLAS - The No. 16 SMU men's soccer team tied the University of Missouri-Kansas City 1-1 on Wednesday night at Westcott Field.

After a scoreless first half, sophomore Tyler Engel scored the Mustangs' lone goal in the 48th minute. Sophomore transfer Andrew Morales collected the ball and fed Engel who sent a 12-yard shot into the bottom right corner of the net for a 1-0 lead.

UMKC's Broc Cramer knotted the score at one when his shot from 10 yards deflected off of a Mustang defender and into the back of the net.

Junior Jaime Ibarra, senior Juan Robles and sophomore Devin Cook split time in goal for SMU.

The Mustangs wrap up the preseason against Houston Baptist on Saturday at Westcott Field at 6 p.m. SMU opens the regular season by hosting Campbell on Aug. 24 at 7:30 p.m.
