DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU men's soccer team was defeated by No. 14 UCF, 4-2, in the Conference USA opener Saturday night at Westcott Field. Ben Hill and Damian Rosales scored for the Mustangs. With the loss, SMU moves to 5-4 on the season and is 0-1 in league play. UCF improves to 8-1-1 on the year and holds a 2-0 conference mark.

Hill put the Mustangs on the board when he netted his first goal of the season in the 43rd minute. Arthur Ivo crossed the ball from the right side to T.J. Nelson. He dished it off to Hill who headed the ball home.

Rosales scored his second goal of the season in the 74th minute. Juan Castillo served a ball from the left side of the box to Rosales who finished from point blank.

UCF opened the scoring in the 33rd minute when Nik Robson collected a rebound following a spectacular save by goalkeeper Jaime Ibarra. Just over two minutes later, Eduardo Jimenez doubled the score after converting a cross from the right side. McKauly Tulloch added his team-leading 11th and 12th goals of the season in the 56th and 70th minutes, respectively.

SMU kicks off a three-game conference road trip Oct. 5 at Tulsa at 7 p.m. The Mustangs defeated the then-No. 17 Golden Hurricane 3-2 last year at Westcott Field. Senior Adam Still netted a 75-yard goal, and Arthur Ivo and Robbie Derschang also scored in the SMU win.
