DALLAS (SMU) - The third-ranked SMU men's soccer team provided quite an entertaining game against #10 Indiana Friday night with a hard-earned 1-0 victory before 2,201 enthusiastic fans at Westcott Field in day one of the SMU Mi Cocina Classic. Friday's first game saw Brown blank Tulsa, 3-0.

With the win, SMU improves to 5-0 and has yet to give up a goal in 458 minutes of play this season. Indiana falls to 2-2-1 on the young season.

Both teams used approximately five minutes to ease into the game and set the tempo. Both teams attempted to execute its offensive attack, but the Mustangs faired better than the Hoosiers, controlling the pace of the game and standing strong to Hoosier scoring attempts. At halftime, the score remained 0-0.

In the second half, SMU continued to wear down the Hoosiers, making smart decisions and maintaining ball possession. At the 75:12 mark, senior Dario Saintus put SMU on the scoreboard with a tap past IU goalkeeper Chay Cain off a pass from Scott Geppert. After the score, SMU continued to keep Indiana off guard, but the Hoosiers had a number of scoring chances. SMU senior goalkeeper Matt Wideman made a few acrobatic saves to keep Indiana off the scoreboard.

After playing to a 0-0 first half, Brown opened up the scoring with three goals within a nine-minute span midway through the second half. Andrew Daniels played a part in all three Bear goals with one goal and two assists. Tulsa (2-2) will face Indiana (2-2-1) in Saturday's first game set for 5:00 p.m.

SMU (5-0) will play for the Mi Cocina Classic title against unbeaten Brown (3-0) Saturday at Westcott Field. Kick-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
