BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (SMU) -- Despite an early go-ahead goal, the SMU men's soccer team fell 2-1 at No. 1 Indiana in its first game of the 2013 regular season. The loss dropped the Mustangs to 0-1 on the season, while the Hoosiers improved to 1-0 on the young slate.

Sophomore Alfred Koroma scored his first goal in a Mustang uniform, while sophomore Michael King tallied his first career assist for SMU.

The Mustangs jumped out to the early lead against the NSCAA preseason top team, when King found Koroma inside the 18-yard box and Koroma slipped the ball into the lower right corner in the 10th minute. SMU held the Hoosiers scoreless for the majority of the half, but IU picked up the equalizer in the 42nd minute when sophomore Femi Hollinger-Janzen cleaned up a loose ball in the Mustang goal area.

The second half saw the Hoosiers outshoot the Mustangs 10-5 and pick up the match-winner in the 72nd minute. Senior A.J. Corrado, who led IU in assists a season ago, picked up his first of 2012 when he found junior Patrick Doody on a free kick for the go-ahead goal.

IU outshot the Mustangs 15-10 in the contest, and held the narrow edge in shots on goal, 5-4. Koroma led the way with three, while senior Juan Castillo, sophomore Eddie Puskarich and freshman Brody Hickey had two apiece.

Junior Jaime Ibarra went the distance in the net for SMU and registered three saves.

The Mustangs are back in action on Sunday when they face No. 7 Notre Dame in their final game of the IU Credit Union Classic. Kick off is set for 10:30 a.m. Follow live stats at SMUMustangs.com.
