HOUSTON, Texas (SMU) - The SMU men's soccer team scored first against the Houston Dynamo in the 15th minute. SMU midfielder Damian Rosales crossed the ball from the nearby corner into the Dynamo box, where it hit a defender and redirected into the net for a SMU goal.

The Mustangs stretched its lead in the 60th minute when Leobardo Vazquez dodged the Dynamo’s goalkeeper and scored on a slow shot that just cleared the goal line before Houston could clear, extending the Mustang’s lead to 2-0.

Two minutes later Houston’s Watson scored which cut the score to 2-1.

The Mustang’s defense stood tall on the heels of some outstanding saves from second-half goalkeeper Devin Cook. The first save came in the 71st minute, and the second came seven minutes later when Cook pushed away a free kick to maintain the lead.

The Dynamo obtained a foul nearby the corner flag and then headed in a free kick for the tying goal.
