DALLAS (SMU) - Mario Clemens, the No. 58 golfer in the nation according to the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings, has enrolled at SMU for his senior season and will be eligible to join the team immediately.
"Mario will be a great addition to our program and will step in and make an immediate impact," Head Coach Josh Gregory said. "He has played for one of the top-three programs in the nation at UCLA, which is invaluable. He will bring experience and leadership to our very talented group of freshmen. Mario has the potential to be one of the best players in college golf."
Clemens, who lived in the Dallas area until he was 14, won the Washington State Snowmen Getaway in Chandler, Ariz. He shot an impressive 8-under in the February 2011 event. Clemens' first win came at the Cal Poly Invite as a sophomore.
The Beverly Hills native earned All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention honors in 2012, and shot an average score of 72.6 for the season.
To date, Clemens has two career victories, six top-fives, 10 top-20s, and 19 rounds under par.
