DALLAS (SMU) - SMU sophomore Bryson Dechambeau will team up with LSU junior Stewart Jolly in the first round foursome pairings for the 2014 Palmer Cup at the Walton Heath Golf Club in England. The annual Ryder Cup-style amateur competition between the United States and Europe will begin tomorrow.
Dechambeau, a PING Second Team All-American, and Jolly will play Houston's James Ross and Jack McDonald of Troon, Scotland, in the fifth and final match of the day. Afternoon four-ball matches will also be played, with pairings to be determined.
Friday and Saturday will feature singles action with the champion crowned following the two rounds of singles play.
Dechambeau is SMU's second player to represent the United States in the event. Hank Kuehne participated in both the 1998 and 1999 seasons, while SMU head coach Josh Gregory coached the United States squad in 2012. Overall, the United States is 9-7-1 in the Palmer Cup.
