RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico (SMU) - The No. 17 SMU Mustangs finished 10-under as a team on Monday and now have three players in the top 10 heading into the final round at the Puerto Rico Classic. SMU is 11-under for the tournament.
The Mustangs have two freshman in contention, as Austin Smotherman built on his strong first round and is now tied for fourth overall. Bryson Dechambeau charged up the leaderboard with the best round of the day, shooting a six-under 66 with seven birdies. Senior Mario Clemens moved into a tie for ninth place after shooting a one-under round, moving him to three-under overall.
All five Mustangs shot under par for the round, with Harry Higgs going one-under and David Lee posting a round of two-under par.
No. 5 Alabama and No. 45 Oklahoma are currently tied for the team lead at 19-under par.
Of the 15 teams in the Puerto Rico Classic field, 14 are ranked in the top 100 according the GolfWeek/Sagarin rankings.
