2015-16 (Sr.): Competed in all nine events, finishing in the top-10 five times… Led the Mustangs in four tournaments… Posted a counting team score in 24 of 27 rounds (88.9 percent), and in all three rounds of seven tournaments… Finished par or better in 13 of 27 rounds (48.1 percent)… Shot a low round of 67 and finished in the 60s seven times… Finished with a career-best, tied for second twice, in consecutive tournaments… At the Erin Hills Intercollegiate, Smotherman lead the Mustangs to a first-place finish, finishing 8-under-par (208) for a second-place finish… Following Erin Hills, he matched his second-place finish at The Farms Collegiate Invitational, carding a 5-under 211…Finished tied for fifth (212. -4) at the Hawkeye Invitational…Used a 2-over 218 at the Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters to finish tied for eighth…Finished tied for 10th (215, -1) at the All American Intercollegiate... Led the Mustangs with 87 birdies, and managed two eagles. HONORS: Named to American Athletic Conference All-Conference Team.
2014-15 (Jr.): Posted a counting team score in 30 of 34 total rounds (88.2 percent)... Shot par or better in 41 percent of his rounds, ranking second on the team... Shot a personal-best 62 (-8) in the final round of The Goodwin, tying him for fifth individually and pushing SMU to a tie for the team win with UAB... Had seven top-10 finishes and two top-five results... Opened the year tying for fifth at the GolfWeek Conference Challenge (215, -1)... Tied for 10th at the Gifford Collegiate (211, -2)... Placed 10th at the Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters (212, -4), finishing at par or better in all three rounds... Tied for seventh at the Robert Kepler Invitational (214, +1)... Tied for 10th at the American Athletic Conference Championship, closing with a 4-under 68... Tied for seventh at the NCAA Noblesville Regional (214, -2), leading SMU to a tie for the win with Illinois... HONORS: PING All-Central Region team... AMATEUR: Teamed with Bryson DeChambeau to advance to the round of 16 at the inaugural U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championships at the beginning of May; tied for fifth during the stroke play portion of the event.
2014 - Summer: Qualified for the U.S. Amateur by winning the qualifying event at the Tangle Ridge Golf Course.
2013-14 (So.): Tied for 29th at the NCAA Championships, finishing at even par after a career-low first round of 66 (-4)... Tied for fourth at the American Athletic Conference Championships at even par, tallying a final round 70 to help lead SMU to the team title... Tied for sixth at the Valspar Collegiate at -4...Earned a career-best runner-up result at the Royal Oaks Invitational; carded a three-round score of 203 at the SMU-hosted event, finishing just one stroke off the lead... Totaled 13 rounds of par or better during the season... HONORS: All-American Athletic Conference team.

2012-13 (Fr.): Played in nine events... Tied for sixth at The Duck Invitational... Carded a season-best three-round score of 212 at the Puerto Rico Classic, tying for 12th... Carded eight rounds of par or better, including two season-best results of 68... Averaged a 4.67 on par fives, good for 42nd in the nation... Had four finishes of 14th or better... HONORS: Second Team All-Conference USA... C-USA All-Freshman Team.
Prep: Won the 2012 California High School State Championship... Finished 4th in 2011... Was Big I 2012 Champion and runner-up in 2011... Captained his golf team during his senior year... 2012 Sacramento Player of the Year... Team won the 2011 California High School Invite... Team also earned SFL League championships in 2010 and 2011... Started playing golf at two-years-old... Chose SMU for "Not only the high-level of coaching, but the freshmen class and players on the team give us the highest chance to win national championships."
