Gilbert Named American Athletic Conference Offensive Player Of The Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I (SMU/The American) – Senior quarterback Garrett Gilbert has been named the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season, the conference office announced on Monday.
Gilbert completed 38-of-47 passes for 403 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for another TD in a 28-25 loss at Cincinnati. It was the third 400-yard game and the seventh 300-yard game of the season for Gilbert, who has thrown for multiple touchdowns in five consecutive games. Gilbert, the national leader in total offense (408.3 yards per game), has thrown for 2,634 yards and 15 touchdowns this season and has added five rushing touchdowns for the Mustangs.
The Mustangs will host Connecticut on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Ford Stadium. This weekend’s American Athletic Conference clash will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
